Lineage Letters ("we," "us") operates lineageletters.com and app.lineageletters.com. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and how to reach us. The short version: we collect only what's needed to deliver what you bought, we never sell your data, and your family's recordings belong to your family.

What we collect

Only what is required to deliver the product you purchased or the free sample you requested. Depending on what you use, that may include: your name and email address; the name and email of any storyteller or family member you invite; voice recordings and the transcripts we generate from them; photos you upload; and the content of memorial pages you choose to publish. We do not collect payment card details — payments are handled entirely by Gumroad.

How we use it

To deliver the book, app access, recordings, transcripts, exports, and memorial pages you've paid for; to send transactional email (license keys, magic links, invitations, receipts); and, only if you opt in, to send you occasional Lineage Letters notes you can unsubscribe from with one click. We do not sell your data. We do not share recordings, transcripts, or photos with anyone outside your family unless you publish them on a memorial page yourself.

Where your data lives

Recordings, photos, and account data are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure: structured data in Cloudflare D1 and audio and photo files in Cloudflare R2. Transcription is performed by automated speech-to-text processing; the original audio is always preserved unchanged. Transactional email is delivered through Resend. Payments and order records are processed by Gumroad. Each provider is bound by its own privacy terms.

Privacy by default

Everything a storyteller records is private to your family account by default. Nothing becomes public unless a designated family member deliberately publishes a memorial page — and even then, the family chooses exactly which recordings, stories, and photos appear on it. Memorial pages can also be set to family-only with a passcode.

Your recordings are yours

Your family owns every recording, transcript, and photo. You can export your complete archive at any time. If Lineage Letters ever shuts down, every customer receives a full copy of their files. That promise is also written into our terms.

Deletion

Want anything — or everything — deleted? Email hello@lineageletters.com from the address on your account and we'll delete your data, including recordings and photos, and confirm when it's done. No forms, no retention tricks.
